Shipping Policy
What does DOT restricted mean?
Most of our packages are delivered by a combination of air and ground transport. But the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) prohibits air shipment of items that could contribute to an onboard fire or other mishap.
Restricted items include:
Aerosol-type products or medications in pressurized spray cans, such as: hairspray, shaving cream, and inhalers.
Products that contain flammable volatile or corrosive chemicals, such as: fragrances, nail polish, bunion treatments, and nail polish remover.
We're committed to getting your order to you as quickly as possible, but we also want to do it safely and responsibly, in compliance with DOT rules. That's why we require ground-only delivery, at our Standard Shipping rate, for orders that contain DOT-restricted products.
We are unable to ship DOT-restricted items to Hawaii, Alaska or APO/FPO addresses.
PRESCRITION ORDERS
We must ship your order to a place of business or a residence where there is someone available to sign for the package during regular business hours. Signatures must be obtained by individuals over the age of 21 years.
Shipping Carriers
Orders shipped via Standard Shipping will be shipped via the US Postal Service or FedEx. Unfortunately, there is no way to guarantee that your order will be shipped via a specific method when you choose standard delivery unless you have a P.O. Box. If you have a P.O. Box, all orders will be shipped via the US Postal Service.
Refrigerated Medicines
Some prescription drugs must be kept refrigerated. To ensure quality and safety, we send refrigerated medicines using overnight shipping only. This is because standard shipping methods do not guarantee that the medicine will be kept at the proper temperature.
Our Free Shipping program and free or discounted shipping promotions apply to shipping fees only. If your order qualifies for free or discounted shipping, the shipping charge will be deducted from your order at checkout but any shipping surcharges will still apply.
We will send you an order shipped confirmation e-mail message when we have finished processing your order and our transportation partner has picked it up for delivery. Please be sure that someone will be available to accept your shipment at the shipping address the next business day. Open the package immediately and store the medicines as recommended.
To save on shipping charges, consider the following: request a larger quantity of medicine in each order, combine shipment of two or more refrigerated medicines.

U.S. Territories & APO/FPO Military Addresses
In order to provide better service, we ship all orders USPS Priority to U.S. Territories and APO/FPO Military Addresses (we use more economical shipping methods for all other orders). The delivery time is up to 3 times faster for our customers in these locations. As a result of this increased cost to ship these orders via USPS Priority, shipments to U.S. Territories require a $11.99 surcharge and APO/FPO Military addresses require a $4.99 surcharge. This surcharge is listed at checkout and is in addition to regular delivery charges. If your order qualifies for free shipping, the shipping charge will be deducted from your order at checkout but this surcharge will still apply.
Alaska & Hawaii
Shipping to Alaska and Hawaii may require an additional 2 to 3 days. We are unable to ship DOT-restricted items to Alaska and Hawaii. For more information on our shipping policies for restricted items, see ìDOT Restrictions on Air Shippingî below.
U.S. Territories, APO/FPO U.S. Military Addresses and International orders
Family Drugstore is licensed to fill prescriptions written in the United States and its Territories. The prescribing physician must be licensed in a U.S. State or Territory, and with the exception of APO/FPO Military addresses, prescriptions can only be shipped within the U.S. or to U.S. Territories.
We're sorry, but expedited shipping is unavailable for U.S. Territories and APO/FPO Military addresses. We ship only via standard shipping (USPS Priority) to these locations. Packages sent to Military and Territorial addresses may be delayed by standard mail handling. Because refrigerated medicines require overnight shipping, we are unable send them to U.S. Territories or APO/FPO Military addresses.
Risk of Loss

Substitutions
FamilyDrugstore.com reserves that right to make substitutions in size of product available. Whatever size are substituted, it will only be done so that the result is a savings to the customer. There will be no substitutions made for prescription orders.
